From Heritage Restoration to Your Home

Our story starts in the workshops of Ukraine and Poland, where from 2015 to 2022 we restored what machines can't reproduce: antique gypsum mouldings, ornamental plaster, marble walls in buildings older than Canada itself. That kind of work teaches you one thing above all: there are no shortcuts. Every surface tells you what it needs; you either listen, or it shows.

In 2022, when the war came to Ukraine, we made the hardest decision of our lives and started over, as far away as we could. Canada opened its doors, and Newfoundland gave us our first Canadian years: new-build drywall finishing, taping and skim-coating from bare board to Level 5, machine sanding, priming, and painting walls and trim. Four years of learning how Canadian homes are built, inspected and lived in. That chapter included two years with ServiceMaster on insurance restoration claims, floods and fires alike, where we learned insurance-grade standards for working in occupied, damaged homes: full masking, floor protection, poly containment walls, the complete package.

In 2026 we moved west to British Columbia, closer to family who have painted BC homes since the early 2000s and are part of our crew today, and to a bigger market where craft like ours has room to grow.

Today YZ Painting & Finishing brings both halves together: European restoration-grade skill and Canadian building experience. We bring our own vision, laser-precision cut stencil work, from Ukrainian folk ornament to mandalas to any custom pattern. And we build yours: any idea, sketch or reference photo, made real on your walls.
