Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities
Cabinet painting replaces a $20,000 kitchen renovation with one that runs $3,500 to $12,000, and if the boxes are sound it looks the same from a metre away. YZ Painting builds a spray booth inside your home, sealed off with Zip-Walls and run on Festool HEPA extraction with an outside exhaust, so the doors are sprayed on site and never leave the house. Fixed written quote after we count the doors.

A spray booth, built inside your house
A cabinet door brushed in place always looks brushed in place: you see the strokes, the finish stays soft for weeks, and dust settles into it while it dries. Spraying fixes that, and most crews solve it by loading your doors into a van and returning them a fortnight later, chipped in transit or not at all. We do neither. We build a proper spray booth on site: Zip-Wall poles seal the work zone floor to ceiling, Festool HEPA extraction runs on the sanding, and an exhaust fan pulls overspray and fumes straight outside. Doors, drawer fronts, boxes and face frames are all sprayed inside it. Nothing leaves your home, nothing gets lost, and the rest of the house stays clean.
What actually determines whether this works
Preparation, and nothing else. Kitchen cabinets carry years of cooking grease that no paint bonds to, so every surface is degreased before anything else happens, then scuff-sanded, then sealed with a bonding primer chosen for the substrate. Oak needs grain filling if you want a smooth modern finish rather than visible grain. Melamine and thermofoil need a different primer than wood does, and thermofoil that is already lifting needs replacing rather than painting. We tell you which case you have at the estimate, not after the deposit. The coating matters as much as the prep: cabinets are not walls, they get grabbed with wet hands, hit with steam and wiped with degreaser, so we use a coating formulated for cabinetry rather than wall paint in a nicer sheen.
What it costs and what changes it
Doors and drawer fronts start at $95 each, and a Tri-Cities kitchen runs $3,500 to $12,000. The spread is wide because the work is, and the number follows the door count rather than the size of the room. At the lower end: 20 to 30 doors, sound boxes, a straightforward colour. At the upper end: a large kitchen with an island and a pantry, oak that needs grain filling to read smooth, glass inserts and mullions to mask, or a change from dark stain to white that takes an extra coat to cover. We count the doors on site and give you a fixed price in writing before anything comes off its hinges. Paint is bought at our trade price and billed at cost with the supplier receipt attached.
Living in the house while it happens
Five to seven days. You lose the doors, not the kitchen: boxes stay usable, the sink and appliances keep working, and the booth is sealed off from the rest of the house with the exhaust running the whole time. Most people put the contents of the upper cabinets on the counter for a week and carry on. We rehang with your existing hardware, or drill for new handles if you are changing them.
Where we do this
The booth comes to you, so this runs across the Tri-Cities and the ring around them: Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby, New Westminster, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. Port Moody sends us more cabinet enquiries than any other city. Further out we quote case by case.
